TECHNICAL TRAINING

Meet Our Team

Daniel Matherly, President & Training Program Director

Daniel Matherly brings over 25 years of nuclear operations experience to his role as President and Training Program Director of Lighthouse Technical Training. His career spans 9.5 years as a U.S. Navy Nuclear Machinist Mate and more than 11 years in uranium enrichment operations at Department of Energy facilities, giving him deep operational insight into high-consequence industrial environments.

As an INPO Certified Nuclear Instructor, Daniel has developed and delivered training programs at facilities nationwide, consistently earning praise for his ability to make complex technical concepts accessible and engaging. He currently serves as Adjunct Professor of Chemical Engineering at Roane State Community College, where his students regularly commend his practical, real-world approach to technical education.

Daniel's training philosophy centers on building fundamental understanding rather than rote memorization. He believes that truly competent technical professionals must understand not just what to do, but why they're doing it. This approach produces individuals who can think critically, troubleshoot effectively, and respond confidently to the unexpected challenges that arise in industrial operations.

Beyond the classroom, Daniel maintains an active hands-on technical practice, regularly working on projects involving machining, 3D printing, and building demonstration equipment for training applications. This continued engagement with practical technical work keeps his instruction grounded in the realities of how things actually work, not just how textbooks say they should.

Daniel founded Lighthouse Technical Training with his wife Sacha to address a clear need in the industrial sector: high-quality, systematic technical training delivered by instructors who have actually done the work they're teaching others to do.
